Tim Snap from Anchorage

The AAPT National Meeting in Anchorage was cold! This photo was taken when the sun was highest (not very), looking east from the roof of a parking structure...

Somebody: send me pictures of the actual meeting!

Dean Snaps from Salt Lake

The AAPT National Meeting in Salt Lake City was warm and productive, giving all those that attended new insights and cartographical challenges.

And there are photos from Dean Baird:

PTSOS

Question: What group is represented by five letters plus four dedicated teachers, and is dedicated to helping new teachers become their very best? Physics Teacher SOS, of course, or PTSOS for short. They have a website which is under constant revision: http://www.ptsos.org

Paul Robinson, Dean Baird, and Stephanie Finander conducted the first of three New Teacher Workshops September 10th at San Mateo High School as part of the Physics Teacher SOS program. 33 teachers from all over Northern California attended the workshop. Although teachers did not receive a stipend for attending, we gave out over $5000 of instructional supplies and demonstration equipment. Teachers came from nine different area codes, one from Chico and another from the Sierra foothills (a 3 hour drive). There were 31 high school teachers and two junior high. 13 were women, 20 were men.

The next workshop was February 4th 2006 at Los Gatos High School. PTSOS program is funded by a grant from the Karl Brown Foundation.

You can find some photos of the September workshop here:
